Constructionline Gold is a highly respected accreditation that shows your business meets specific industry and regulatory standards.
It’s one of four membership levels offered by Constructionline (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum), with Gold being the most popular choice among construction companies.
Why is it so popular? Gold membership shows potential clients that you take health and safety, compliance, and risk management seriously. The platform is used by over 25,000 buyers throughout the UK, representing more than 3,800 construction firms.
Gold membership helps you meet industry standards like the Common Assessment Standard, which many large organizations now require from their suppliers.
According to Constructionline’s data, an impressive 93% of suppliers renew their membership annually, showing just how valuable this certification is for businesses.
So much so that many major organizations, councils, and Tier 1 contractors won’t even consider you unless you’re Gold certified.
They need to know you won’t cause them compliance headaches. If a subcontractor has poor health and safety practices or gets tangled up in issues like modern slavery, it can hurt the main contractor too.
Being Gold accredited gives these organizations confidence that you’re a safe choice.
What are the requirements for Constructionline Gold
Before applying for Constructionline Gold, you’ll need to complete the Silver level first. These are what you’ll need to provide for your Gold application.
Work Categories & References
You’ll need to provide information about the type of work you do and references from previous clients to prove the quality of your projects.
Health & Safety
This is where you’ll need to demonstrate compliance with legal and industry standards.
Be prepared to provide risk assessments, safe systems of work, COSHH management documentation, training records, evidence of safety briefings, site inspections and equipment records.
SSIP accreditation
For SSIP accreditation, you’ll either need to go through an SSIP assessment like Acclaim or prove that you already have CHAS or SafeContractor and go through the ‘deemed to satisfy’ route.
Environmental Management
You’ll need to show how your business minimizes its environmental impact through environmental policies, training procedures or impact assessments. If you’ve got an ISO 14001 certificate, that’s a big plus.
Equal Opportunities & Diversity
You’ll have to prove that your recruitment, HR, and training policies follow UK equality laws. No shortcuts here as buyers want evidence.
Financial information
Constructionline will ask questions about your business finances, including tax compliance and fraud prevention, to prove your business is stable.
You’ll need to show that financial responsibility runs throughout your company with relevant policies and training. They’ll look at turnover, tax compliance, and whether you’ve got the right insurance.
Quality management
You’ll be asked for things like your quality policy, staff training logs, complaints procedures, and any relevant ISO 9001 certificates that show how you manage quality and handle non-conformities.
Corporate & Social Responsibility
Buyers want to see that you’re acting ethically, so Constructionline will ask about anti-bribery policies, whistleblowing, right to work checks, modern slavery compliance, and more.
BIM (Building Information Modelling)
If you use BIM in your work, you’ll need to show how. If you don’t, you can simply answer “no” to this section.
Business & professional information
You’ll share company structure details, project references, and proof of past work.
Training records
This includes CSCS cards, health & safety training records, and more. You need to show that your staff are properly trained and competent.
Cost and Duration
renew it. This annual process gives your clients confidence that you’re maintaining high standards. Buyers expect you to keep up the same standards so if you promised to deliver equality training or environmental assessments, don’t drop the ball.
What does it cost?
The costs vary depending on your staff size and turnover. For example a small company with 2 staff and a turnover of £75,000-£99,000 might pay around £709 + VAT. The same company with a turnover of £200,000-£349,999 could pay about £929 + VAT
You can also pay extra for “bolt-on” like a concierge service to check your verification status or a fast-track process.

I can help with your Constructionline Gold application
Many businesses sign up without understanding the requirements and then try to gather evidence as they go, which can lead to frustration and wasted time.

At THS, I help businesses through the entire Constructionline Gold process from sorting out documents to fixing gaps in your policies and getting you SSIP-ready.
I don’t just hand you a bunch of templates and disappear. I’ll guide you through every step, make sure your paperwork is solid, and even help draft things like Risk Assessments or Method Statements.
