CHAS Accreditation Renewal

The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme is an important accreditation body that helps companies show compliance with important health and safety standards. It acts as a type of pre-qualification during the tender process, showing that your business meets the required health and safety standards.

But why is CHAS membership renewal important?

It’s important to maintain your status as a trusted and compliant contractor. CHAS accreditation is renewed every year. This renewal ensures that your health and safety practices are up-to-date and compliant with the latest regulations.

You need to keep your qualifications updated if you want to win new contracts and maintain existing ones.

Once renewed, you can boldly publicize how your company is compliant with CHAS, an SSIP-approved accreditation.

Here's how to renew your CHAS accreditation

CHAS accreditation renewal

When you want to start your Chas membership renewal, just follow these steps and do it online:

Step 1: Log in to your MyCHAS portal

Visit the MyCHAS Portal on the CHAS website and sign in using your registered email address and password to renew your CHAS Membership.

Step 2: Review your current practices

Before you begin the renewal process, review your current health and safety practices.

You must be sure that all policies are up-to-date and reflect any changes in regulations or best practices over the past year. This is also a good time to assess any areas for improvement.

Step 3: Initiate the renewal process

Click on the “Renew” section within the portal and follow the prompts to initiate the renewal process. Be prepared to provide any necessary documentation or updates related to your organization’s health and safety practices. Make sure all information is accurate and up-to-date to avoid delays in the renewal process.

Commonly required documents include:

  • Health and safety policies and procedures
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Training records and certifications
  • Accident and incident records
  • Evidence of previous work and contracts

Step 4: Pay the renewal fee

Complete the payment for your renewal fee online using a secure payment method. Keep a record of your payment confirmation for future reference.

Step 5: Submit your renewal application

Review your completed renewal application and submit it for assessment by the CHAS team. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been submitted successfully.

Step 6: Await assessment results

The CHAS team will assess your application and inform you of the outcome. The CHAS assessor will take up to 10 working days to get back to you with their findings on your submitted documentation. If your application meets all requirements, your accreditation will be renewed for another year.

Step 7: Update your records

Once your accreditation has been renewed, you should update your company records and inform relevant stakeholders, such as clients and contractors, of your CHAS accreditation status.

You can also do offline renewal

Offline renewal process:

  • Contact the CHAS renewal team on 0345 521 9222.
  • Inform the staff about your intention to renew your membership.
  • They will guide you through the process and assist you with the necessary paperwork.
  • Make payment for the membership renewal. The CHAS assessor will take up to 10 working days to get back to you with their findings on your submitted documentation.

When do you need to renew your accreditation?

CHAS accreditation is valid for one year, so it needs to be renewed annually. So you’re to renew before your current membership expires.

You can find your renewal date on your CHAS certificate or by contacting CHAS directly.
