The Three Levels of CHAS Accreditation

CHAS Accreditation Levels

The accreditation is offered in three levels: Standard, Advanced, and Elite. I’ll explain how its different levels can benefit your business.

1. CHAS Standard

Cost: £349 plus VAT

The CHAS Standard level is the entry-level membership, providing essential health and safety assessments and SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) accreditation. It is priced at £349 plus VAT.  It includes:

  • Health and safety policy review
  • Evaluation of associated procedures, processes, arrangements, and records
  • Self-certified insurance module

Despite being the basic level, CHAS Standard is highly valuable and widely recognized. It allows businesses demonstrate their compliance with health and safety standards and join the SSIP scheme, opening up more work opportunities.

To achieve this level, your business needs to provide documentation and evidence of your health and safety policies, procedures, and records.

2. CHAS Advanced

Cost: £539 plus VAT

The CHAS Advanced level includes all the benefits of the Standard level, plus compliance with PAS 91 requirements. PAS 91 is a standardized prequalification questionnaire used in the construction industry to streamline the procurement process. This level helps businesses:

  • Prequalify for a wide range of construction projects
  • Share PAS 91 and SSIP data with over 2,500 CHAS clients
  • Save time and money by automatically prequalifying for projects

This level is about proving you’re on top of nine different areas of risk management. To achieve this level, it’s not just health and safety – they’ll look at things like how you handle equality and diversity too.

3. CHAS Elite

Cost: £749 plus VAT

At £749 plus VAT, this is the full package. It includes everything from the other levels, plus something called the Common Assessment Standard

The CHAS Elite level includes the SSIP and PAS91 requirements, plus the Common Assessment Standard. This level, priced at £749 plus VAT, is the highest level of CHAS accreditation.

This is the most comprehensive accreditation, covering 13 areas of risk management. It’s developed by Build UK, Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), and other industry experts, the Common Assessment Standard does the following:

  • Standardizes the prequalification process
  • Improves supply chain efficiency
  • Reduces risks across various areas

This level is ideal for construction companies aiming for the highest standards in health and safety compliance. It is recognized by major accreditation bodies and helps businesses secure reliable opportunities.

How to Get Started with CHAS Accreditation

CHAS Accreditation Levels explained
  1. Choose the right level (Standard, Advanced, or Elite) for your business

CHAS offers three packages: Standard, Advanced, and Elite. When selecting a package, consider your business goals and the level of accreditation you aim for.

The cost of the package depends on the number of employees in your company.

Each package includes various benefits, and completing the required assessments can be done at your own pace. If the process seems daunting, consider seeking help from TrainInHealthandSafety accreditation experts.

  1. Prepare your documentation

To become CHAS accredited, businesses must provide extensive documentation to prove their health and safety compliance.

So I recommend you gather all necessary documents before starting the application.

The specific documents required depend on the level of accreditation being pursued but generally include health and safety policies, inspection records, insurance paperwork, training certificates, risk assessments, method statements, etc.

And be sure that all the documents are up to date and comply with the required standards.

  1. Take your time to complete the assessments

There’s no rush to complete the assessments. Work at your own pace to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Depending on the chosen package, you may need to complete multiple assessments. Take your time and seek help from accreditation experts from THS if needed.
